The Challenge
Executives are receiving less-than-candid feedback. Instead, they are hearing what people think they want to hear. This is an environment where people will not say what needs to be said. There is no transparency in communication.
The Core Problem
Executives need to get accurate feedback or their ability to take the best corrective action is compromised. Studies show that "getting people to speak candidly with them, even it if is bad news," is one of the greatest challenges executives face. As information is communicated from the executive level management team to the front line and back, there are major distortions of what is being communicated. But the critical question for executives and managers is this. How do you create an environment where people can trust the management team not to ‘shoot the messenger'?
GRI Calls Feedback "The Lifeline to Success"
Executives and leaders who can trust the information they receive from subordinates make better adjustments and are able to prioritize where their support can do the most good. In our Leadership workshops we provide a formula for executives that establishes trust in the work environment for employees to speak with integrity. Feedback must be focused on the organization's priorities and have suggestions on alternative actions to be considered. During the workshop, this is reinforced by role-playing. After the workshop the DCG consultant team observes management and front line conversations, coaching to all parties where needed. We also provide regular updates to executives.
"Feedback with Integrity is the Manager's Lifeline to Success." This is the hallmark of our work and an essential truth that we emphasize regularly. It provides lasting value to our clients and the day-to-day relationships of their workers.
