The GRI Workshop is typically a three-day program. Each client is different, however, so we will work with your needs and goals to make certain we built the right program and schedule for you. Every module includes training, discussion, case studies and team activities to make sure the new skills become strongly engrained into participants.

Day One

Module 1) Creating A Proactive Management System: Before companies can change culture and sustain long-lasting performance improvements, they have to understand the roadblocks to success inherent in their current system of management. This module introduces critical business principles illustrating the differences between successful companies and those that struggle.

Module 2) Building Pathways To Communication: One of the main elements to sustainable change is understanding how the brain works and how communication functions at optimal levels. This module provides a detailed insight into the workings of the brain, how it impacts our communication and how to maximize the brain’s performance.

Module 3) Focusing Employee Ideas: Module 3 introduces the key elements to successful performance improvement. Front line employees learn how to leverage and improve Communication, Teamwork, Creativity and Leadership and how to identify their Big "S" – Success – at the beginning of every improvement project.

Module 4) Understanding the Reasons for Performing Activity Analysis: This module equips participants with the fundamentals of performance analysis work. The module breaks down the components of our work Activities and their Tasks, and how the improvement process starts by eliminating failure in these areas.

Improvement Projects Initiated

At this point, participants start working in their pre-designated teams on their first GRI Improvement Projects. In Modules 5-9, teams learn key concepts of performance improvement and then apply them as they create their plans for their own projects. Team projects will typically be completed within six-eight weeks of the end of the GRI Workshop. Most teams then schedule a Follow-Up Day with their GRI Instructors to discuss the success of their initial projects and to start their second projects.

Module 5) Pinpointing Opportunities for Improvement: Participants are introduced to key GRI documents, the Process Matrix and the Activity List. Using the documents’ key assessment tools, teams work together to a) identify all the Activities within their main Process and b) select the best Activity to focus on for their improvement project.

Day Two

Module 6) Leveraging Tasks for Improvement: The next stage of improvement work is to move from Activity Selection to Activity Analysis, focusing on the Task Breakdown of the Activity selected for improvement. Using the RPAF Analysis (Tasks: Required, Preventive, Appraisal or Failure), Front Line employees become completely engaged in the improvement process.

Module 7) Reaching Agreement on What is Important: Participants tackle the subject of Requirements in terms of their Inputs and Outputs. This module prepares teams to work and communicate effectively with their internal customers and suppliers so there is complete agreement on expectations and deliverables throughout the improvement project.

Module 8) Designing An Empowered Team: First, teams work together to identify the Root Cause Analysis for the current problems (Failure Tasks) imbedded in their selected Activities. Second, the module introduces tools and knowledge to spur their Creativity so they can generate the best ideas and solutions for these problems and their new methods of operation.

Module 9) Measuring The Benefits: ROI is synonymous with GRI. The GRI Workshop stresses throughout that, if there is no trackable return on projects (in Redeployed Hours or Bottom Line P&L Savings), then a successful return did not occur. In this final presentation, teams use their documents, project analysis and ROI expectations to gain approval from management to begin their projects.

Day Three

Day Three actually starts in the middle of Module Nine. Most of Day Three is spent creating the Final Action Plan and preparing for the teams’ management presentations. Final Presentations begin in the afternoon on Day Three. Management works with their teams to modify any necessary elements of the Action Plan. Teams then receive final approval to begin their performance innovation projects.
