As a client developer for DCG, I come into contact with many varied companies around the country and it never ceases to amaze me that different industries and companies have similar problems. A corporation takes on the characteristics of its employees. And that’s what I can relate to – ‘people’ problems.
What I try to do at DCG is hold up a mirror image to the company – one side shows what it is now, and the other what it can become. The DCG problem solvers can do that.
Some of the more common problems I hear in ‘corporate land’ are:
- “I have no time to do anything! I’m working 24-7!!!”
- “We must reduce our costs...our budget is hurting”, or a variation of that theme, “We need more profits!”
- “Our company has conflicting goals and employees are not sure of where we are going” (a company without a compass)
- Lack of employee motivation and management initiative
- Fear of change
Any one of these can bring pain to the people within a company, and each additional problem compounds it.
When I pause and reflect on some of the companies I contacted several years ago who were seeking solutions and not finding them, and after becoming DCG clients, I speak to them today and they are confident and without stress...THAT’S MY REWARD! And maybe I had a small part in it – after all, it started with my first telephone call. ‡
