On Saturday, March 1, 2003 ConEdison hosted the Sixth Annual USA Memory Championship at their corporate headquarters in New York City.
</p>
<p>
The top winner of this year’s competition was presented with a pair of Business Class Round trip tickets to London, courtesy of British Airways, a sponsor of the USA Memory Championship since its inception in 1997. While in London, our USA Memory Champion will compete in the World Memory Championship in August of this year.

<p>
Ten Mental Athletes from around the country came to match their skills against reigning champion Scott Hagwood.
</p>
<p>
By the end of the day, Scott Hagwood would hold his crown high with 1628 points. When asked if satisfied with his performance Scott replied, "No, I never am." However, Scott's feat with the cards is one of the requirements for Grand Master status, one of Scott's goals. (To date there are no US Grand Masters.) He still has two rungs on that ladder but with his track record, he'll climb them in no time.

<p>
Ram Kolli, a graduate student at Virginia Tech, placed second in the overall competition with 1435 points. Chester Santos, a graduate student from Golden Gate University, placed third with 962 points.
